We can’t leave the topic of beautiful Salt Lake City buildings without showing you the Cathedral of the Madeleine. Its amazing Spanish Gothic interior and colorful Byzantine murals are simply breathtaking.
The tabernacle tower, inspired by late medieval design, is the focal point of Madeleine’s Blessed Sacrament Chapel and points toward a striking starry night ceiling depicting the vault of heaven.
Elaborate woodwork, including carvings by Isaac Kirchmayer who was said to be one of America’s most gifted wood carvers, complements the frescos.
Everywhere Once 
Wow. We do like visiting churches, so I guess Salt Lake City should be on our list of places to go!

Wow! The cathedral is colorful. Magenta columns with teal accents, a royal blue ceiling with tangerine trim, and that ornate woodwork. Just stunning.

Visual art often adorns churches and expresses what words cannot collect. I did not realize that Salt Lake City has such an ornate cathedral. Shall I assume that this is catholic (don’t we all assume that all churches in Utah are LDS?).

At the risk of imposing a protestant’s view on catholics, how do you work out the getting to confession-mass thing each week with your travels? At least the church is less likely to “dienfranchise” you the way Texas is trying (referring to another post of yours). I have found (even as a protestant) that attending churchs around the world, in foriegn languages including Latin, is quite revealing about the local culture. Listening and observing, whether the weathered cliffs of the southwest or thousands of years of liturgy brings us closer. Guess that’s not much of a good, righteous protestant mind-set, huh?
