We love Paris. Next to our home metropolis of New York, it just might be our favorite city in the world. And having been here on two previous occasions, we felt no pressure to check things off a to-do list this time around. In fact, with everything there is to do here, our list was surprisingly empty.
We sauntered over to Notre Dame and perused the interior for free. We contemplated the long line and the price to climb the towers and gawk at gargoyles but decided against it.
The Louvre? It’s rare for us to pass up a day in a museum. And the Louvre is no ordinary museum. But we’ve been there before, twice, and again – the crowds. Ugh.
We did make it to the d’Orsey and the Musee Rodin, and we’re glad we did. But mostly we spent our time in Paris wandering around the lovely streets content to just be there.
Not exactly as tourists. Not at all as locals. This was something else. We were just comfortable and happy to be in one of the best cities on earth and felt no pressure to do anything in particular. It was almost like being at home, because in a way, we were.
you took very nice photos! 😀

The first time we visited Paris we tried to see everything our friends told us about. What a mistake; my feet were so sore from all the walking I didn’t want to see one more site, no matter what it was.

Ha-ha. I think that is pretty common. We’ve done that plenty of times ourselves, but now try to slow down and see more by seeing less.

Beautiful photos! I love how you simply enjoyed being in the city instead of feeling like you must behave as a tourist. Although it’s great to see the big tourist things, it’s also nice to take a break from the crowds. Sometimes getting out and about you discover great finds off the beaten path. This is how we personally love to travel.

I’m with everyone else—wonderful photos. Definitely my favorite city in the world. On our last visit we rented an apartment in the Bastille district and one day found ourselves in the middle of a demonstration/riot at Place Bastille (riot police in full gear and armed with very big guns), but we still love the city. It’s so vibrant.

p.s. Enjoy Bangkok. The architecture is incredible, and a boat ride up the river is a must.

Our third trip to Paris is in a few weeks and we feel the same way. No pressure to do anything in particular and lots of time to just enjoy being in the city. 🙂
