With 22 lakes and more than 170 parks, Minneapolis is an outdoor lover’s dream. Its park system has been called ‘the best-designed, best-financed, and best-maintained in America.’ We found ourselves drawn to Lake Harriet, one of seven bodies of water comprising the city’s Chain of Lakes, all of which is found just 10 minutes from downtown city skyscrapers. Awesome.

And the nearby rose garden…you ought to see it in full bloom during the summer.
I’m not a big city girl, not at all. But my eldest daughter lives in south Minneapolis, as did an aunt and uncle for many years, so this is the part of the city I know best, which really isn’t that well.

We saw the poetry but missed the roses. Flowers are so fickle, they just don’t pop open when you want them too. Maybe we’ll catch them next time.
