John Moulton Barn, “Mormon Row” Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming

Around the turn of the 20th century Mormon settlers established 27 homesteads in the shadow of the Teton Mountain Range in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Today, six building clusters remain and are preserved as part of Grand Teton National Park’s “Mormon Row.”

We spent a week in the shadow of the Tetons, at Luton’s Lodge, I believe, a dozen years ago. Great place… except for some family dynamics, but that’s memorable too. We are off to South Africa this week. Drop by occasionally for some posts (when I find internet access). I noticed on the maps that many of the safari rest camp have little camper symbols. Nice “winter” spot to caravan, as they are just getting into Spring. I’ll catch up later. Oscar

Aren’t the Tetons just amazing?! How exciting that you guys got to see them! We hiked right past a baby black bear eating in the woods last time we were there. Up close and personal with Mother Nature!

In the summer of 1962 I bucked bales for the haying season on Clark Moulton’s ranch just a few hundred yards down the road from this iconic barn This is a picture of his brother, John Moulton’s, Barn. I worked for his brother Clark Mounton who live just down Mormon Row from John and was Bishop of the GrosVentre Ward at the time. Their families were the original homesteaders who settled this part of the valley back in the 1800’s. Wonderful times. Lived up there for three summers while in college.
