Another Great State Capitol

Montana State Capitol Staircase, Stained Glass

This time in Helena, Montana.

Built in the traditional neoclassical style, this building’s elaborate use of stained glass gives the interior a very different feel than other state capitols we’ve visited.

And yet the massive domed rotunda still feels right at home.

Absolutely stunning! Thanks so much for sharing these photos. My mom grew up in Great Falls. So, Montana is a very sentimental state for me. Yet, I’d never seen the state Capitol building in Helena before–and it sure is gorgeous!

I just went on a school trip with my daughter’s class to Michigan’s capitol building here in Lansing, and it’s interesting to see how very different and yet how similar the two interiors are. This is much a much brighter place overall, and the details and colors are quite reminiscent of ours.
